Why mxf footages flicker randomly after Premiere Pro CC 2015 Build? – Play MXF with smoothly
Hi, I have encounter some problems after updating my premiere Pro CC 2015 to the latest version 9.1.0 (174) Build as of 4 Jan 2016:
Problem:
MXF (SLog 3 Cine EL) footage flicker randomly when viewed in Premiere Pro CC. When viewed using native Catalyst Browser from SONY it looks fine at all. I have been shooting with MXF for the past 6 months and edit in Premiere Pro CC 2015 and this is the first encounter with such problems. I believed it’s a bug. I tried changing to Software Renderer from GL driver. It helps a while but not playback is not smooth.
About the only way to deal with it is to convert the mxf footage or use a different editing suite. If you have hundreds, sometimes thousands, of files like I do then converting is not an option. Using a different editing suite is a sad realization that I may have to move to if Adobe can’t figure this out.
If the problem still existed, it’s possible that Premiere Pro CC is not compatible with the specs of the Panasonic/Sony/Canon MXF footage. I recommend MXF Video Converter for Mac to assist you to transcode MXF to MPEG-2 which is the most suitable format for Premiere Pro CC. Besides, this App supports for doing some editing work with MXF files. In addition, the most amazing feature about this App is that it supports 8 multi-track output formats, Multi-track MKV, Multi-track MP4, and Multi-track MOV and 5 multi-track MOV output formats with Apple Prores codecs for FCP. The Apple prores codec output is only available in Mac version, not for Windows version.
