Q: Workflow with Canon EOS C700 to FCP X
“I’m working on the post of a project filmed with the Canon EOS C500 in 1080p, I was told in the beginning that that camera delivers de 1080p clips in Apple Pro Ress, but now I’m told from various sources that it delivers them in a strange format, probably mxf, also told that a lot of people have had trouble transcoding those into apple pro res to edit them. I was wondering if anyone here could give me some advices or heads up about the most optimal workflow to edit those files in Final Cut Pro X.”

In order to edit Canon C700 MXF files in Final Cut Pro (which includes the FCP X, FCP 7, FCP 6), you need to first convert MXF to FCP supported formats like MOV and DV.

Here MXF Video Converter for Mac, a professional conversion tool, is highly recommended to help you convert camcorder MXF video files to Final Cut Pro compatible video formats on Mac OS X (El Capitan, macOS Sierra included). Just download it and check out the steps below to convert Canon C700 MXF files to FCP for smooth editing.

I did like the software, very easy to use with my Mac book pro. I own a media company and a lot of the time we get MXF files (which I hate because they are not recognized by any of Apples editing software, FCE, FCP, and iMovie). The product was reasonably priced and easy to use. I enjoyed the watermarked trial software and that’s what sold me. As a Macintosh lover and user I appreciate this godasoft software and would recommend it to my colleagues, the software would be greatly appreciated!!
