Convert Panasonic P2 MXF to Apple ProRes MOV for FCP without rendering on Mac

As is a fact that professional camcorders series usually use MXF container format to record videos instead of AVCHD format, which is often used in family expenses camcorders. Recently many camcorder producers have released their high-end products to attract video editors with high tech in their camcorders.
MXF is a special HD video format which has been put to use in many high-end camcorders such as Canon XF series and Panasonic P2 HD series. Files are saved onto the P2 memory card in MXF format allowing direct data transfer to broadcasting and production system. However, those files in MXF format have proved to be not so well-suited when they are about to be edited in Apple editing tools. Neither Final Cut Pro nor Final Cut Express allows native input of the *.mxf video clips or directly editing them.

To edit Panasonic P2 video footage with Final Cut Pro, you have to convert P2 MXF to FCP natively supported video format like Apple ProRes MOV with Apple Intermediate Codec. The following guide shows how to convert Panasonic MXF video to Apple ProRes on order to import MXF video files to Final Cut Pro X for post-production.

Preparation:
Get P2 MXF Converter for Mac, which performs well on Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard and even Lion.
Step 1. Click “Add” to browse to and load Panasonic .mxf recordings. You can import MXF video clips directly from your camcorder memory card or from the Mac hard drive after backing up the MXF files to it Mac.
Step 2. Click on format setting button and choose Final Cut Pro >> Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov). The format is developed by Apple and is natively supported by FCP. AIC encoded .mov video can be instantly imported to FCP without rendering.

Step 3. Click Convert button to start converting Panasonic P2 MXF to FCP friendly Apple ProRes 422. When conversion complete you can click “Open” to find final .mov videos. Then you can directly import the mov files to FCP, saving time from rendering the files for more compatible with FCP.
