Convert Panasonic MXF to DNxHD MOV for Avid Media Composer editing on Mac

I have some MXF footage recorded by my Panasonic P2 camera that I plan to edit in Avid Media Composer. The problem came when I imported the files into Avid as obviously Avid can not access the media properly. I probably need to find a video converter, I guess. Somehow, I’m overwhelmed by the multiple choices out of Google search results that are capable of converting MXF files to MOV or WMV format as I needed.
Well, here is the step-by-step guide for you to edit Panasonic P2 MXF videos in Avid Media Composer with HD quality, taking iMac with Mac Snow Leopard as an example.

Step 1. Download and Load Panasonic DVCPRO P2 MXF footage to P2 MXF Video Converter for Mac.
Run Panasonic DVCPRO P2 MXF Video Converter for Mac as the 2011 best Panasonic DVCPRO P2 MXF footage to Avid converter on Mac OS X like 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.5 Leopard, 10.4 Tiger. Click the “Add” button to import .mxf files from the Panasonic DVCPRO camcorder or P2 Card.

Step 2. Choose Quicktime Movie Format – Avid DNxHD (*.MOV) output format.
Click the “Format” option and navigate the mouse cursor to Quicktime Movie Format > Avid DNxHD (*.mov) as output format. The Mac MXF to Avid Converter will convert Canon MXF to Avid DNxHD MOV with high quality. (Tip: The Avid DNxHD *.mov formats under Quicktime Movie Format output profile are available when your Avid is installed on Mac).

Step3. Merge Panasonic DVCPRO P2 MXF files. (Optional)
Tick the checkbox for “Merge”, and the Mac MXF Video Converter will join and combine the video clips into a single file as output.
Step 4. Convert P2 MXF files to Avid DNxHD MOV.
Click the convert button under the preview window and the conversion from P2 MXF files to Apple compatible DNxHD *.mov mov videos for Avid Media Composer starts immediately.
The output videos are compatible with other Non-linear editing system like Final Cut Express, iMovie, FCP, Kdenlive, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and Roxio Toast, to import the HD videos on Mac without compatibility issue.
