Convert/Edit Canon MXF to AIC MOV – Burn MXF to DVD via iDVD for DVD Player

After use Canon XF series shooting 1920×1080 resolution .mxf videos for your important moments, you may realize that a conversion program is need to burn a DVD of the video files. There are many free burning applications, but it is frustrated for Mac users because most of them can only work on Windows platform. And for mac way to write dvd the basic one is iDVD on Mac.
As well all know, the Canon 1080/50Mbps .mxf video files extension recorded by Canon XF100/XF105/XF300/XF305 are not allowed to be burned to a black DVD directly. So you have to transcode 1080/50p mxf files to DVD burnable video formats. As for DVD burnable formats, AVI and MPEG-2 are both OK. But to keep its original HD quality, MOV format with H.264 video codec is the recommended converted video format.

Here is the quick step-by-step guide for you to convert Canon XF100,XF105,XF300,XF305 1920*1080 HD 50Mbps mxf videos to Apple InterMediate Codec(AIC) MOV for Mac iDVD to burn and author DVD for play on DVD Media Player.

Step 1: Load Canon XF .mxf video files into MXF Video Converter for Mac.
Specify the right video files and drag mxf video file into MXF Video Converter for Mac and another way to import video files is clicking “Add” button.
Hints: Batch video files are allowed to be imported,therefore joining several video files into big one is supported by ticking the checkbox of “Merge” under the preview window.

Step 2. Choose Intermediate Codec AIC MOV for iDVD.

Click the big button “Editor” and another interface comes out for you to perfect video files. As it shows, some editing options are provided, and there you are free to crop unwanted video parts, trim video lenghth and add interesting video to original one.
For trimming and cutting video, you can use the slide bars under the timeline, or go to the Trim tab to enter exact start time and end time, or even click the Set-in and Set-out button when the video is playing. For cropping video, just go to the crop tab and choose the image area you want to keep.

Step 4: Start this Canon mxf video to AIC MOV conversion.
Click the button “Convert”, this conversion will begin immediately. And after a few minutes, AIC MOV files are ready for you to burn DVD.
Step 5. Burn Canon MXF to DVD with iDVD.
When the conversion is done, run iDVD to create a project and load the .mov videos to the iDVD project. The SuperDrive on iMac/MacBook Pro/MacBook Air or Mac Pro works with DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/ CD-RW. Thus, you can insert a blank DVD-R to the Apple bundled DVD drive, and click the “Burn” button on the bottom of the iDVD to start burning videos to DVD.

After the videos are burn into DVD, you can play the DVD disc on DVD player and enjoy on TV, or send the DVD to your friends or relatives.
