Best way to import Canon C300 MXF to Final Cut Pro X: Canon XF Plugin

I can’t import MXF files shot on a Canon C300 into FCP 10.1.2. I have the Canon plug in for MXF file to FCP import but FCPX still doesn’t recognize MXF files when I try to import.

What is MXF?
MXF is a container format for professional digital video and audio media defined by a set of SMPTE standards. The data-recording camera systems which produces MXF including Sony’s XDCAM, Panasonic’s DVCPRO P2 and Canon XF. Since MXF is a container format, it may supports a number of different streams encoded in any of a variety of video and audio compression formats, therefore, it is often a hassle for media players or video editing applications(Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Final Cut Express, Adobe Premiere, and Avid Media Composer) on Mac computer to properly and efficiently decode the files for further playing or editing.

Supports native MXF importing

Cons:
Doesn’t work well wtih 50Mbps (CBR) 4:2:2, 1920×1080, (60i/30p/24p)
With a lot of steps
May cause errors due to incompatible codecs
Spends a lot of time
Occupies a large amount of RAM
Only available for Canon MXF files

Method B- With MXF Converter

Notes:

How to Convert and Import MXF Files into FCP X on Mac El Capitan?
Step 1: Load unsupported MXF files into the MXF Video Converter for Mac.
From “File” drop-down option, select “add Video/Audio” to add source MOV video files to the program.

Tips: On the main video displaying window, click the up and down arrow to rearrange the file order according to your own needs.

Step 2: Select output file format.
Click “Format”bar, from its drop-down list, select FCP X most favorable editing codec by following “Final Cut Pro” > “Apple Prores 422(*.mov)”, you can also choose other prores formats on your own needs.

Step 3: Edit MOV files.
Select an item on the main interface to active the “Editor” menu, then click the pencil like icon to open “Video Editor” Window, you can play and preview the original video and output effects. Also you can flip video, trim, add special effect, reset, and adjust volume.

Step 4: Convert MXF video to Apple Prores format.
Go back to the main interface and press the right-bottom “Convert”to start MXF video to Final Cut Pro Apple Prores encoding proces.
When the conversion is done, import converted video to FCP X for furthering professional editing.
