The MXF footage that I import from my Canon C300 is perfectly recognised by FCP X in the import window but as soon as it is imported into the event browser it looks like this. (See Screenshot) It doesn’t play back but if I click show in Finder it shows the files and they can be played in Quicktime without a problem.This issue started for me with 10.1.2 and still exists in 10.1.3. I also have the latest Canon MXF plugin installed. I tried on another Mac and I have the same problem there…

Step 1: Free download trial version MXF converter for Mac , install and launch the software.
Once you run it, click “Add Video” or “Add from folder” button to load the MXF files you’d like to convert. You can preview the videos after the videos have been loaded.

Click on “Format”, and select output format from the drop-down list. Choose “Final Cut Pro” then “Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) (*.mov)”.
You can customize the parameters based on your personal requirements such as size, bitrate and other data by click on “settings”. In this case, you can set the size at 1920*1080. If you want to merge several videos into one file, just click on the block highlighted in below screenshot. Then click “Output” to choose the output file folder.
